Ready To Finish Furniture

For decades, Faveri’s, now Inland, specialized in solid wood furniture that was accessible in style, customization, and price. As many may have noticed, prices have gone up making that accessibility a thing of the past. We worked exceedingly hard to find a supplier that could fill the role that has been left vacant since 2020. We are so pleased to offer a line of furniture that is high quality, cost effective, and accessible to everyone.

FAQS

Yes it is. It is made predominantly of Parawood. It is a hardwood, with a similar grain structure to Ash.

Of course, though with parawood, prep is key. We recommend sanding with 120 grit, followed by 150 grit, and a hand sand with 180 grit to make sure the wood is ready to stain. Wipe off with dry, lint-free cloth to remove any saw dust.

This line of furniture is from an American company that sources much of their wood from Vietnam. This allows the cost to stay low, and to get a higher quality piece per dollar spent.

Exceedingly durable. It is similar to Cherry, Elm or some Maple varieties. With a Janka Hardness of 960, it is a medium dense hardwood.

Parawood is a pretty neutral wood, without any strong red, purple, pink or orange undertones. It is often described as blond to medium tan and will take stain pretty true to the samples.

We are happy to finish it for you. but we wanted to show the accessibility of cost of it unfinished. These are great pieces for people to finish themselves and save a few dollars. It is a great line to use our Fusion Mineral Paint or Milk Paint on.

The tools required to finish a piece of furniture vary by project. But here is a quick list for you to start with.

Preparation

  • Sand paper - 80 grit (if piece requires serious smoothing), 120 grit (to even out the wood), and 180 grit (our favourite final sanding to create a buttery soft finish that stain and paint can penetrate. 400 grit sandpaper is also useful between paint coats or between protective layer coats for a perfectly smooth finish. These can be done with an palm sander, orbital sander or by hand.
  • Tack cloth - a lint free rag such as tack cloths you can purchase, or an old t-shirt are perfect. This will help you remove any sawdust from the piece without depositing anything that could get in your finish.

Colour Depositing

  • Stain - if you would like to see the natural grain and texture of the wood while imparting some colour, stain is a great option. Water-based, oil based or solvent-based are choices completely up to you. We can help you narrow down your options to a process and finish that you will feel comfortable with.
  • Paint - paint designed for furniture is best here. Our favourite lines, Fusion Mineral Paint, Homestead House Milk Paint, and Fusion Milk Paint are the best of the best. They have wonderful workability while offering incredible protection in a stunning array of colour choices. They are also great for layering, chipping, sanding, antiquing to get historical, unique finishes.
  • Foam brushes - a quick and inexpensive way to apply stain and topcoats.
  • Bristle Brushes - great for applying even layers of paint to furniture. We recommend Staalmeester.

Protecting

  • Some colour depositors like Milk Paint require a protective coating. Though adding a topcoat will also allow you to play with the sheen of the colour layer as well. Wax, Polyurethane (either oil or water based), Fusion Ultra Guard or Tough Coat, Hemp Oil, Tung Oil or Linseed Oil are all classic choices that will serve different functions. With this many options, we would love to guide you once again to the right choice for you.
